Giving you access to the world’s finest wines

If you are keen to buy wine as an investment, Montague Fine & Rare Wines have extensive experience in creating portfolios for a host of satisfied clients.

How we build your personalised portfolio depends on your current investments, the funds you have available to diversify into fine wine, and what you would like to achieve over what sort of time frame, but we recommend new clients should be prepared to make an initial investment of at least £10,000.

We focus our efforts on first growth Bordeaux, the best estates from Burgundy, California, Australia, Italy and Spain, but we have access to wines from around the world.

We monitor the marketplace on a daily basis so we know the latest trends and track wine performance for our clients’ portfolios. We are always happy to work with your requirements to ensure we provide you with the right wine for your portfolio or your cellar.

Why you can trust your investment in fine wines with us

One of the reasons wine is seen as an attractive form of investment is that it is not subject to Capital Gains Tax. Unlike bottled whisky, wine is seen as a “wasting asset” in the eyes of HMRC.

This may be useful to know if you are keen to sell your collection, or need a cellar valued for probate purposes.

Like many luxury goods, fine wine is subject to being counterfeited. We combat fraud by only buying wines in their original cases, and by working solely with reputable suppliers who provide provenance and verification of all stock.

We use one of the UK’s best storage facilities to ensure your wines retain their full potential, and all wines stored with us are fully insured against damage and theft.

Please note that there is never a guarantee of a return on any investment.

Both wine and whisky are a medium-to-long-term investment that should be properly stored and insured.
